Long-lived greenhouse gases such as CO2, CH4 and N2O are major contributors to global warming. An accurate understanding of their states, including sources and sinks, is fundamental to the development of related mitigation and adaptation policies, and requires accurate long-term observational data, worldwide, with a common reference standard and uniform quality. To promote related research, AERIS makes all the data and services it manages available to the scientific community worldwide.

To accelerate scientific research and support collaboration between French researchers and their international colleagues, AERIS proposes to develop a dedicated data portal that centralises and shares information and data in the specific field of greenhouse gases. Thanks to this portal, anyone interested can browse, consult, view and download all the public data from the numerous observations, projects and greenhouse gas databases of the AERIS atmospheric data and services centre.
